The courses of the Duval/Double Palms Executive Golf Facility composed Down To Earth’s first golf contracts and transitioned us from a full-service landscape and irrigation company to include a golf maintenance division. Since taking these first courses on in June 2008, we have approached golf maintenance with the same business strategy and principles that have made us successful for 30 years: surround yourself with personnel that care and offer services that exceed client expectation.

Looking back, the overall conditions of the courses initially needed some special attention, but Down To Earth was able to fully restore them back to the Villages’ standards . Since then, we have taken every opportunity to showcase our commitment to excellence by delivering unparalleled service. It’s no wonder that we still maintain all of the golf facilities that we have ever undertaken — including these first 36 holes.

Truman Executive Golf Trail

A perennial favorite on the Executive Golf Trail, the Truman course packs a lot of fun, challenging golf into just nine holes. In fact, Truman consistently ranks among the The Villages Executive Golf Trail courses, getting the most play year after year. Highlights include number 4 which has the unique feature of accommodating two greens. The par-3 number 8 is generally considered to be Truman’s “signature hole” and one of the more challenging on the Trail. From a slightly elevated tee, it’s all carry over water to land on the green and more than a few golfers manage to come up short on number 8. Yardages will vary from 1022 yards to 1765 yards. No matter where you tee it up, Truman will show players a good time and offer challenging golf.

Roosevelt Executive Golf Trail

Next up is Roosevelt — a fun, but challenging course. Players here will shoot uphill and downhill and putt on large, undulating greens. During a round it’s quite possible that every club in a bag will be needed at some point. Roosevelt’s signature hole is the par-4 number six. Straight uphill, land it between a scattering of oaks guarding either side of the fairway. This beautiful hole plays 205 yards from the forward tees and 280 from the tips. This scenic Level 4 course is par-29 and can play as short as 1080 yards or as long as 1751 yards from the back tees.

Turtle Mound Executive Golf Trail

The focus is definitely on fun at Turtle Mound. Everyone can enjoy a round here, but it is designed to be a course that is relatively easy for the novice player. Fairways are forgiving and the course plays fairly short, even from the rear tees. A much-talked about hole is the par-3 number four. First, a substantial carry over water is required and that shot must then find a small green protected in front by a large, inviting bunker. The good news is, there are multiple tee boxes that can be used that change the angle of attack on number four. This is one par-27 course that beginners will appreciate – playing as short as 804 from the front tees and as long as 1323 yards from the back.

Sandhill Executive Golf Trail

Finally, for players preferring a flat golf course may not include Sandhill as a first choice, although it is a very fair test of golf ability for players of all levels. As is true on a few other courses on the Executive Golf Trail, this one starts easier than it finishes. The hole many players talk about at is number three, a par-3 that requires a carry over water no matter which tee box is played from (103 yards from the front tees, 184 yards from the back tees). Sandhill is a par-28 course with “up front” yardage of 998, and which stretches to 1657 yards if a tee-off is from the back markers.
