Mallory Hill
Country Club
The Villages, FL
Down To Earth Golf was awarded the golf maintenance responsibilities of The Villages’ 27-hole championship course Mallory Hill in 2012.
The Mallory Hill clubhouse overlooks 18 of the 27 holes from one of the highest points in Sumter County and the ever-changing elevation guarantees golfers a one-of-a-kind experience. The historic area of tee box #7 on The Caroline, is The Villages own version of the fabled “Amen Corner”. The tee is adjacent to one of the oldest cemeteries in the county, rumored to be the final resting place of many of its earliest settlers.
As an older translation of the name Mallory is “unlucky” or “unfortunate”, golfers should be cautious while playing the sprawling valley known as The Virginia, which is located on acreage once known for its watermelon patches and fishing holes. Seven of the nine holes boast water hazards, making precise shot placement a must.
Not to be missed, the Amelia boasts dramatic views from its third tee, which rests some 60-70 feet above the green. In addition, the course possesses some of the highest points in Lake Sumter Landing and possibly the entire county.
